On May 2, 2002 McDowell County once again battled severe thunderstorms that drenched the county in more than 4 inches of rain in less than six hours. This torrential rainfall caused massive flooding that ravaged more damage throughout the county than the devestating flood of July 8, 2001. As information becomes available regarding flood damage assistance etc. it will be posted on this site. Links to pages containing flood photos from various parts of the county will also be provided. Check back often for updates.

Thank you.
